Wasn’t much going down in Taipei, so I decided to hop the High Speed Rail to Taizhong with Marcus to check out the kick off to High Heels and Hi-Tops’ Satisfaction Tour. Had to, had to go to Feng Jia Night market by the University. Apparently, so did everyone else. I’ve never, never seen a nightmarket so packed in Taiwan. Shoulder to shoulder 7 people wide, and one row going back out. At times we’d stop for 5 min. But being beside this guy made it seem better:
After passing 3 stores (yes, 3 in 30 min) we found a little alley (freedom!) and bolted out. Fresh air! Hungry after that effort.
This little I’ll help you BBQ stand had the best new invention in fried foods- bacon wrapped pineapple! Here’s the lady chopping behind the counter. I love that there is propane everywhere you go in Taiwan. I wonder how often they explode.
Still hungry. But whatever you do, DO NOT buy this. It’s yuckier than a chocolate bar made in China. (Those are cornflakes on it!)
Nightmarket shopping/eating = FAIL. Must do it on a weeknight sometime. Too many people to move. Next time, Taizhong, I know you’re good for it. On to Light Lounge…… had to go early so Marcus could set up and meet up with Leo. Normally I would’ve went a bit later, but this way I just had to drink more whiskey…
More Leo in action (Played some Sweat Off Your Brow, forgot all about Jully Black!)
Met these cool cats, Ben and Crystal. Ben surprised me about 5 times with his track knowledge – I was skeptical so I kept walking behind and checking the Serato to see if he was right. Yes, every time. What an ear! (Besides that he recognized the Misfits shirt I was wearing was from Upper Playground! Hooooooo, you know, in the Taiwanese 5 year old kid kinda way. You know, right?)
It’s kinda nice getting out of Taipei cuz a certain kinda people live in Taipei, and a certain kinda people don’t like to live there. That said, these cool people I met should come up to the Big Smoke and party sometime!
I met Kate. She likes to wear weird things on her neck, like this:
Circle was there to attend to our whiskey needs. I got her to dance with me around 2, but then she bailed, aw well. So cute!
Pon De Floor! This is when the Taiwanese crew got up and started dancing!
Then, YAY, ran into Beth Cox!
What High Heels and Hi-tops party would be complete without a shoe shot? Leo wins with his Ultra-white (eraser in pocket) Nike Hi-tops. I would own them, but I would keep those sneaker cleaners in business trying to keep them that way. I’m a messy kid.
Speaking of sneakers, I hear Themba from Bullet-Proof Toast has quite the shoe collection.
