The TS Project – Custom LED Costumes for True Spin Fire Dancing Group

This was my most ambitious project to date – to design and produce a dozen custom LED costumes for local fire dancing group sensation, True Spin. The video above showcases the completed outfits, and showcases their innovative dance style.

TS Fire Group are upping the bar for performers everywhere.  After government fear about the safety of fire dancing in Taiwan, leader Xiao Hua solved the problem by cleverly switching fire to various kinds of portable Tron-like lights: LEDs, Cool Lights, Lasers, Black Lights, and EL wire. The video below focuses on the lights and 3D lasers.

What a complicated design and time consuming construction challenge it was! Each piece has so many pieces – the most in one garment being 88! Because of how involved it was, I’d like to treat you to a behind the scenes look at the process it took to create and execute the outfits in a series of upcoming blog posts!
